Family RightsGroup (FRG) has received funding from KPMG Foundation, Esmée FairbairnFoundation and The Robertson Trust to develop a UK family finding model (nowknown as Lifelong Links) ready for trial. During this development stage FRG hasbeen working closely with Kent County Council, LB Camden, Hertfordshire CountyCouncil, North Yorkshire County Council, Devon County Council, LB Southwark andmore recently Coventry City Council.
In additionCoventry's Director of Children's Services is committed to working with FamilyRights Group and Catch22 to potentially add value to the Lifelong Links modelthrough the use of a clinical psychologist and two assistant psychologistsemployed by Catch22 providing training and on-going support and consultancyadvice to the professionals working with the young people involved, and alsothe informal network generated by Lifelong Links. Together our organisationsare excited by the possibilities of Lifelong Links and the value psychology canadd to the model.
Catch22 has overtwo hundred years' experience of providing services that help young people intough situations to turn their lives around. We have a particularly stronglegacy in delivering statutory children's services including working withchildren in care and those leaving care, as well as expertise in the field ofChild Sexual Exploitation.
As an assistantpsychologist you will work under the direct supervision of the ConsultantClinical Psychologist and will support the implementation of the Lifelong LinksModel (LL) in Coventry through developing a needs analysis and co-producing apackage of training for LL coordinators, social workers, professionals andfoster carers supporting young people identified to as eligible to participatein this model. As an assistant psychologist you will support and co-facilitatereflective practice supervision to identified colleagues involved in theimplementation of LL. You will, under the direct guidance and supervision ofthe consultant clinical psychologist support the staff team managing thechallenges of engaging multiple families and negotiating expectations, demandsand fears whilst enabling them to develop a psychological understanding of theneeds and difficulties of the young people referred. You will support theconsultant clinical psychologist develop a series of workshops to help youngpeople understand how past experiences shaped their thinking and feelingpatterns and how this affects their experience of relationships. Experienceworking with young people and their families and having an understanding ofFamily Group Conferencing is a must for the role.
